IF you are at the farmer's market or the Ramadan bazaar in the Jeli district, a new car filled with chocolates may have caught your attention.

If you haven't seen it, then the next time when a brand new Perodua Viva or a Perodua Alza filled with chocolates attracts your attention take a closer at the car on sale and get a taste of the chocolates.

"Perodua Nasrom With Chocolates" is the initiative of Mohd Saupe Zakaria, 48, a chocolate entrepreneur in Kelantan who has been selling the chocolates from his home in Bukit Bunga.

Mohd Saupe said as the public is more engrossed in buying food items for breaking fast during Ramadan at the farmer's market and the Ramadhan Bazaar, the number of people interested in buying his chocolates had dwindled.

Thus, he realised there is a need for an innovative marketing strategy for his home-made Soufe's Chocolate.

"As the crowds are patronising both places now, I have to bring Soufe's Chocolate there and my presence there will attract the attention of the patrons," he told Bernama.

But Mohd Saupe still needed an innovative approach in ensuring his product stands out from the rest.

"Initially I thought of asking my friends with stalls there to help me sell these chocolates but I felt it would be better if I was there to help promote the chocolates."

"While pondering on the effective ways for marketing the chocolates, the sight of the Perodua Viva and Perodua Alza at the Perodua Nasrom showroom in Kota Baharu gave him an idea.

Mohd Saupe is a freelance dealer for Perodua Nasrom that sells the Perodua models Perodua Viva and Perodua Alza.

"The I decided that by putting Soufe's Chocolate inside the car as I could at the same time help promote the cars to the customers," said Mohd Saupe.

Since then, Mohd Saupe has been making his rounds to the farmer's market and the Ramadan bazaars in the district in the cars filled with chocolates. He alternates between Perodua Viva and Perodua Alza to promote both the cars and the chocolate.

The initiative was agreed by Perodua Nasrom and both the chocolates and the cars are seeing better sales.

Apart from the farmer's market and the Ramadan bazaar, he also takes the chocolates and the cars to the government departments in the district.

The home-made chocolates also available in fish and floral shapes other than the triangle, ring and others.

"I also have six lines of new chocolate "Praline Chocolate" the original bitter chocolate preferred by the elderly, "Lolichoc" (in lolipop shape), "Oreochoc" (also like lolipop), "Boxchoc" (in a box shape) and "Biscuit" (like the chocolate wafer). Bernama
