RECENTLY, I had the opportunity to test drive the Audi Q3 luxury class vehicle. The Q3 has a compact look with sporty design coupe-like lines on the exterior, equipped with a versatile driving mode and an efficient driving performance.
The Audi Q3 was previewed to the public at TCY Motors Sdn Bhd new showroom at Jln Dato Ratna in Kiarong since April.
The urban vehicle incorporates every aspect of the Audi technology, from the Q3's dynamic chassis, which its lightweight body allows it to go through difficult drive terrains, down to its state of the art assistance and multimedia systems.
The exterior of the car boasts wedge-shape headlights, equipped with striped LED daytime running lights which is also distinctive on its rear lights.
The interior compartment offers ample room for five passengers and the luggage is wide enough to accommodate say two standard golf bags or three when put vertically by folding down the the split rear seat backs.
The Audi Q3 uses a 2.0 TFSI Quattro with 125 kW (170hp) engine with a seven-speed S Tronic. The dual-clutch transmission enhances its efficiency even further.
The electronic systems of the car do look impressive, with front-rear sensors and/or camera assistance while reversing, dashboard integrated music system, audio system with AM/FM radio, CD player (reads MP3 format) and a Bluetooth wireless data link for hands-free phone.
Other features include the electric adjustment of driver's seat, four strategically located airbags, day and night Rear View Mirror, an Antilock-Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and a Electronic Stability Programme.
But what definitely impresses me more than the ones mentioned is the the "drive select" system (Comfort, Auto, Dynamic) which allows the driver to fiddle with vehicle parameters. The system does not manipulate the transmission, but it changes throttle response, power steering assist, and-if so specified-damping rate. A stop/start system is standard.
