MALAYSIAN state rulers are expected to be among the guests attending the Istiadat Bersanding Pengantin Diraja (royal wedding ceremony) between His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik and Dk Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah Pg Hj Bolkiah today.
A tentative guests list issued by the media secretariat of the royal wedding yesterday stated that seven Malaysian state rulers, head of Sarawak state, chief minister of Sabah and Sarawak, as well as the governor of Saudi Arabia were invited to attend the royal wedding.
Among the VIP guests are Sultan Hj Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah and Sultanah Hajjah Kalsom Abdullah of Pahang; Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin and Tuanku Tengku Fauziah of Perlis, Sultan Al-Wathiqu Billah Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin and Sultanah Nur Zahirah of Terengganu.
Other Malaysian royalty include Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Al-Haj of Selangor; Tuanku Muhriz of Negri Sembilan, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah and Tuanku Zara Salim of Perak as well as Sultan Ibrahim of Johor.
Prince Saud bin Abdul Mohsen bin Abdul Aziz, governor of Ha’il region, Saudi Arabia, is also expected to attend.
The event is also to expected to be attended by Head of Sarawak state Tun Dato Laila Utama Tun Pehin Sri Dr Hj Abdul Taib Mah-mud and Datin Ragad Kurdi Taib; Sabah Chief Minister Dato Seri Paduka Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman and Datin Seri Panglima Hjh Faridah Hj Tussin.
The Istiadat Bersanding Pengan-tin Diraja is the highlight of the wedding ceremonies as the royal couple will appear together for the first time since the royal festivities started on April 5. They will be seated on a specially built dais at Balai Singgahsana Indera Buana, Istana Nurul Iman.
The royal wedding ceremony, which is expected to start at 10am, will take place in the presence of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, royal family members, people of nobility and other state dignitaries.
The royal wedding procession, or Majlis Istiadat Mengarak Pengantin, will not be taking place after the wedding ceremony at Istana Nurul Iman today.
Meanwhile, the Majlis Persanta-pan Diraja or royal banquet will be taking place at Istana Nurul Iman tonight.
The media secretariat said a total of 75 local and 18 foreign media registered to cover the royal wedding between His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik and Dk Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah Pg Hj Bolkiah.
The foreign media included Malaysia’s Bernama news agency, Thailand’s Spring News TV and Nation TV, Singapore’s Kyodo News and Reuters news agency.
State broadcaster Radio Televisyen Brunei will have a live broadcast of the royal wedding on all its channels. The Majlis Istiadat Bersanding Diraja will also be streaming live on http://www.royalwedding.information.gov.bn.
