HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam officiated at the Sovereign's Parade for the Officer Cadet School’s (OCS) seventh intake today (July 5, 2012).
The event marked the end of training and the beginning of military careers for 12 land officer cadets as well as nine navy and five air force officer cadets.
His Majesty who is the Defence Minister and Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) arrived at the OCS, Sg Akar Military Camp to a Royal Salute by the officer cadets and their parade commander. The monarch then consented to conducting an inspection on the assembly in open formation.
Marking the culmination of their 42-week training, the officer cadets performed the marching drills to crisp precision as His Majesty along with military officers and delegates from other countries and the cadets’ family members looked on.
In the titah delivered during the ceremony, the monarch commended the intake on successfully graduating from the OCS.
His Majesty presented the coveted Sword of Honour to Air Force Officer Cadet (U) Muhd Izdihar Hj Imran who topped all three aspects of the training: Academics, Physical Training and Military School.
Three other graduating officer cadets also received awards from His Majesty for excellence in training.
Following the events on the parade grounds, the monarch was then escorted to the Officer's Mess where he took the opportunity to speak to the officer cadets and their kin.
His Majesty received a ‘pesambah’ (gift) and a ‘journey book’ that contains details of the intake's training.
