AFTER working their way through the first semester, the Business and Technician Education Council (BTEC) students at Laksamana College of Business had organised a four days and three nights cross country trip to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah recently.

The students which consist of 11 BTEC part time/full time students started their journey under the supervision of their IT lecturers, Azman Mashor and Yap Sze Wei.

The team assembled at the college premises, the meeting point, before beginning their travel to their first location, Temburong, where they had lunch by the river side.

During the picnic at the Ulu Temburong National Park, the team also managed to visit the Long House at the park. Their Temburong Park trip was concluded with the famous "Udang Galah" dinner.

The four days and three nights trip was not only aimed to provide relaxation to the students and lecturers, but also served as a reunion trip for one of LCB's BTEC student with his father whom he has not seen since his childhood.

The BTEC team managed to collect some money and a few boxes of clothes which were then donated to the family in Merapok, Sarawak.

Following the reunion, the BTEC team continued their journey to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Among the locations they visited were OneBorneo Shopping Centre as well as the Jesselton Point Waterfront.

Formerly known as the Kota Kinabalu Ferry Terminal, Jesselton Point Waterfront is situated north of downtown Kota Kinabalu and serves as the only ferry terminal for Labuan-bound passengers as well as the main boat terminal for the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park and Gayana Island.

The third day of the trip resumed with a trip to Manukan Island. Manukan is one of the five islands under Tunku Abdul Rahman Park. The journey takes only 20 minutes by boat from Kota Kinabalu City. Manukan offers clear waters and beautiful coral reefs where the students and lecturers indulged themselves in the Manukan Island water activities which include snorkelling and banana boat.

The four-day cross country road trip not only allowed the students to unwind after the tough first semester but it also allowed the students and the lecturers to interact and communicate better and strengthen their relationship. The Brunei Times
