THE roads leading to the Times Square Shopping centre was at a grid lock as participants and members of the public gathered to witness the long awaited Times Square Grand Lucky Draw yesterday at the Times Square Shopping Centre in Berakas.
The venue was filled with people watching on as participants with tickets in hands anticipated for their numbers to be announced. Out of the many hopefuls, Muhammad Hamdanajin Hj Doneng was the lucky winner of the grand prize by far the most expensive a bungalow valued at $120,000.
Present during the grand draw as the guest of honour was Mohd Rozan Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yunus, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Development.
When asked what he purchased, Muhammad Hamdanajin replied: "I buy typical items such as chocolates and other snacks, I did not expect to win the house ". The grand prize winner was clearly overwhelmed by the moment.
Apart from the grand winner, a number of nine other lucky winners were awarded with a myriad of exciting prizes ranging from electric goods such as state-of-the-art flat screen televisions, freezers and many more appliances.
Amal Majidah, Event Manager of Times Square informed that the Times Square officially launched the draw back in October last year and since then have given away 10 prizes every day up until April 3, 2011.
The prizes up for grabs ranged from vouchers to dine in at popular restaurants at the complex such as Excapade, PastaMania and Sugarbun to electrical appliances such as DVD players, mobile phones and even kitchen ovens.
During the period, Shoppers were able to win prizes daily, monthly, and on special occasions. Daily draws were held on weekdays; weekend draws were held on the last weekend of every month. Shoppers only had to buy items from any store in the shopping complex and drop their stamped receipts in the lucky draw Box.
With the end of the grand draw, visitors of the Times Square Shopping Centre now await the next major event they have up their sleeves.
