LADIES can now look forward to an exhibition that is tailor-made for them. The International Women's Fair 2011 was launched yesterday at the International Convention Centre (ICC). The event is being held from June 16 to June 19, 2011 with many fun and exciting activities lined up for the visitors.
Present as the guest of honour was Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Datin Hjh Adina Othman who also officiated the launch. Also present were Datin Paduka Hjh Rokiah Hj Zakiah, president of Brunei Woman's Business Council (BWBC), council members, invited guests and exhibitors.
The fair showcases over 200 booths, most of which are local Small-Medium Enterprises and featuring female entrepreneurs. Also happening at the fair is the InXpo where international companies are brought in to also showcase their products to the local market and the inaugural International Wedding Showcase.
During the launch of the International Women's Fair 2011, Datin Hjh Rokiah expressed her gratitude towards BWBC, S-Team Solutions as the event organiser and Elricco Wedding and Multimedia towards the success of the fair's organisations and planning.
She also highlighted the main focus of the event, the launching of the Brunei Women Entrepreneur Award 2012.
The Award is introduced to honour and recognise female entrepreneurs throughout the Sultanate for their contributions to their community and local economy and who are leading examples and mentors to aspiring young female entrepreneurs.
The president said that the competition featured four categories contested, namely: Anugerah Peniaga Wanita Cemerlang (Outstanding Female Entrepreneur Award), Anugerah Peniaga Wanita Khidmat Masyarakat (Female Entrepreneur Award for Community Service), Anugerah Peniaga Wanita Muda (Young Female Entrepreneur Award) and Anugerah Khas Ahli Majlis Perniagaan Wanita (Special Award for Brunei Woman's Business Council Member).
Meanwhile, Datin Hjh Adina in her speech, stressed the importance of the women's role in the business world by touching on the government's role in support of women's involvement in the business world.
She also encouraged the female entrepreneurs to enhance and improve their own local products.The Brunei Times
