MANY may feel anxious and scared whenever or wherever one may encounter a slithering being (i.e a snake) or any other exotic animals that crawls on four or six legs. But for the crews of Ed Pet Shop, it is an opportunity for them to showcase these somewhat misunderstood creatures to the public at their "House of Snakes" booth during the ninth Consumer Fair 2012.
According to Assistant Manager Baktiar Rambli, the "House of Snakes" is gearing up its effort to expose their presence and to correct public perception about these reptiles.
"We all know the public perception when it comes to snakes, that they are dangerous to hold or even to touch it, but that's the reason why we are here, to tell people that not all are necessarily dangerous and poisonous," said Baktiar.
He assured that the snakes and other reptiles that are brought in are harmless and tamed.
"Our crews have been trained and taught on how to handle these reptiles and with that knowledge they share it to the visitors...We always prioritise safety when it comes to handling them and our crews would teach visitors on what precautions to carry out when encountering one so my main hope is that visitors will get the right info when they walked out of this place (House of Snakes booth)," he added.
Among the exotic animals making on display were corn snakes, milk snakes, king snakes, the reticulated python, the Burmese python, the blood python, Boa python and other reptiles such as scorpions, tarantulas and lizards and monitor lizards. To attract more visitors, Ed Pet Shop is holding a two day Pet Show-Off Contest that will end today and the winner will be announced towards closing time. The Brunei Times
