Registrations pour in for BIBD's Charity Expedition for ALAF


REGISTRATIONS are pouring in, in just less than a week after Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) announced that it will be organising a charity expedition for the community.

"Charity Expedition for ALAF" is scheduled to be held on October 14, 2012 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium. It will feature five different categories and they are the 2.5km Fun Run, 5km Run, 10km Run, 21km Half-Marathon and a 53km Cycling Expedition.

The 10km Run and the 21km Half-Marathon are competitive races where the runners can win marathon packages to Melbourne, Hongkong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu. First, second and third prize winners will also receive an exclusive winners t-shirt together with winning medals.

Participants for the 10km and 21km categories will also receive finishers medals upon completing the race within a set time.

CE-ALAF hopes to promote a healthy lifestyle as well as to encourage public awareness through fitness on the aims of the programme.

Carrying the tagline "One Step, One Pedal, One Education", the charity drive aims to help underprivileged students in their educational progression through a systematic sponsorship scheme under the BIBD ALAF programme. ALAF stands for Advocating Life-Long Learning for an Aspiring Future.

Registration is now open online for interested participants at and Physical registration forms can also be obtained at selected BIBD branches - Main Branch, Kiulap Branch, Manggis Branch, Temburong Branch, Tutong Branch and Kuala Belait Branch. Physical registration forms are limited and are only available on a first come first serve basis. It is also important to note that photocopied or scanned copies of the registration forms will not be accepted. Registration ends on September 15, 2012.

Upon registration, participants will be given donation cards. Donation cards can only be collected at BIBD Main Branch in the capital starting August 13, 2012.
