CARRYING on with the tradition of glorifying the holy month of Ramadhan through reciting Al-Quran and intensifying religious deeds, the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPU SB) held a tadarus (mass reciting of Quran) ceremony at the college's surau yesterday.

The ceremony was held separately for the male and female congregants and was attended by Dr Hj Abdullah Hj Lampoh, deputy ra'es of KUPU SB and Dr Hjh Masnon Hj Ibrahim, Ra'es of KUPU SB, resepectively.

The tadarus is one of the annual projects organised by the college, according to the college's spokeperson.

Among the aims of the programme were to increase the understanding of the importance of reciting al-Quran as well as strengthening the understanding and cooperation among the college's community.

The tadarus was accompanied by the reading of doa selamat prior to the breaking of the fast before the congregants performed the mass Maghrib prayers. The mass reading of the Quran commonly held during Ramadhan to reap the benefits of reading the al-Quran as well as to celebrate the auspicious month.

Ramadhan is the month when the Holy Quran was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Readers will reap multifold rewards from Allah (SWT) when they recite the holy book during this blessed month and their status will be elevated in the eyes of Allah and they will be placed at the highest position among the angels.

Ramadhan is also the perfect time for Muslims to atone for their sins and reinforce their inner strength which have been provided by Allah the Almighty. (AFS1) The Brunei Times
