RADIO Television Brunei (RTB) in its drive towards increasing public awareness on the many unique cultures and traditions of the population once again organised its "Menjejak Kampung" event yesterday in the Tutong District.
This is the fourth such event organised by RTB in its bid to provide exposure on the cultures of Brunei to the general public and neighbouring countries, through RTB's satellite programmes.
The Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Hj Adanan BPSK Dato Seri Setia Hj Md Yusof, as the guest of honour at the event's opening ceremony lauded RTB's efforts to inform the community of the uniqueness, socio-economic development and culture of the four districts in Brunei.
Prior to this event, RTB has held three other such events in Lumut, Kilanas and Bangar which were deemed successful in giving the public a preview of the different types of communities and cultures available in Brunei.
The event organised by RTB will focus on the Mukim and Kampung Consultative Council of the district being promoted.
The minister said that "smart partnerships" which involve the consultative council and organisations under the council are welcomed, as activities centred on community and welfare development should be held more often; these are important in strengthening cooperation and harmony in the community.
He added that this will also help activate and motivate the community involved to build relations amongst each other through not only through social, cultural, religious and sports activities but also through economic activities.
The program will help assist the country in developing its tourism industry through international exposure of its many cultures, traditions, heritage, flora and fauna and also help promote the characteristics of the Bruneian community that will show the uniqueness of the country through its people, he added.
The "Menjejak Kampung" event will be held for three days at the Pasarneka and Tamu Complex in the Tutong District where activities include exhibition booths displaying a wide variety of Tutong's local products, concerts, live band performances and cultural shows.
Amongst the agencies and organisations being promoted in the multi-purpose hall of the complex are RTB, Photographic Society of Brunei and Motorcycle Club. Live auditions and on-the-spot interviews will be held for those interested in joining the RTB team as singers, actors, newsreaders and so on.
The event will end on December 2, a Sunday, with cultural shows and other forms of entertainment by the Tutong community and RTB celebrities.
