THE Kaca centre is currently seeking about $150,000 to finance the building of their own centre in Kuala Belait.

Operations Manager for Kaca centres and Vice-President of the association, Hj Abd Alim Hj Othman said that Kaca, as one of the non-governmental organisations in Brunei, needs the help of the public to support and raise the funds needed to build their own centre in Belait, as the current centre with 73 registered members is only a temporary site loaned from the government.

"Kaca centre is estimating a time target of three to five years to collect the amount of funds needed and basically the funds will be sourced from public donations individually or donations from companies and also by organising charity nights and events that could generate funds through tickets selling and sponsorships," he added.

He also said that in addition to financial aid, those who wish to donate construction materials are also welcomed to contribute.

Since its establishment, Kaca has organised activities such as walkathons, jogathons and charity shows to raise funds so they can add to and improve their centres in all districts.

The association will continue to organise these activities and is hoping the public can take part in any activities organised so that they can contribute to the association's drive to improve the welfare and abilities of handicapped children.

The main aim of Kaca is to provide all necessary facilities that can help special needs children to carry out the constructive programmes and activities.

In the future, Kaca centres in all districts will operate as a conference centre, community centre, forum centre, seminar centre and also house other formal events with a focus on the welfare and education of handicapped children in the country.
