Be better prepared and informed, students advised

STUDENTS should be well-prepared and informed ahead of time about programmes that they intend to pursue or the institutions they want to go to.

The Principal of Business School, Habib Mohammad Wan Hj Junaidi, reminded students to be aware of and open to opportunities that they may come across in terms of what and where to study, during a talk on 'Planning the Ladder to Success' for final year students of the BDTVEC Business and Finance at the school, yesterday.

"Before you decide where in the UK you would want to study, your first stop will normally be the British Council," he said, acknowledging the valuable help rendered by the British Council for so many years.

He added that the UK is a good education destination — be it in terms of scholarship or sponsorship — as the country offers a wide variety of programmes at all levels.

The talk was attended by around 50 final year national diploma students as well as the school's former graduates, who are keen on pursuing higher studies. The talk, organised by one of the school's teachers, Halimahtun Saadiah Pehin Dato Sulaiman, had also invited Cecil Dasal, a representative from the British Council, to brief the students on the preparations that they have to make in selecting the right course and the right institution.

Dasal had been with the British Council for many years, providing services to Bruneians and expatriates on matters pertaining to education and training in the UK.
