THE Staff Welfare Body of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah yesterday helped clean up the surroundings and the interior of the Yayasan Housing Scheme recipient's residence in Kampong Lumut, marking the welfare body's first charitable act this year.
The welfare body also gave away home appliances donated by individuals and the private sector to the recipient, Gambar Susu.
The welfare body said in a media release that yesterday's activity was aimed at exposing the members to charitable works and its significance to elderly citizens, poor families and the needy. Set up in 2000, the welfare body is responsible for the welfare and well-being of its members, which consist of officials and staff of the foundation. It was established with the aim of strengthening relations between its members as well as to encourage and enhance its members' participation in religious, welfare, social, sports and economy-related activities.
Yesterday's activity was also joined by members of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah's volunteer unit.
