BRUNEI is organising a joint exhibition programme with Thailand to raise awareness on environmental issues and possible solutions to save the earth from the adverse effects of global warming.

Titled "Thailand and Brunei Darussalam: Only One Earth, Care and Share" and themed "Global Warming", the exhibition in Bangkok coincides with the celebration of World Environment Day on June 5.

Pengiran Dato Paduka Hj Ismail Pengiran Hj Mohamed, permanent secretary at the Prime Minister's Office will be officiating the exhibition, which runs on June 3-6, according to a press release from the Information Department at the Prime Minister's Office.

The programme is part of a cooperation deal between Brunei and Thailand in the field of information and broadcasting.

"Environmental issues, especially global warming, has become a major global concern, (thus) there is a need for Brunei Darussalam and Thailand to share the task of educating the public through various awareness programmes initiated by the government and non-governmental agencies of both countries," the press statement added.

The exhibition will feature initiatives, policies, projects, and activities carried by various sectors in both countries that help protect the environment.

The national flower of Thailand, Ratchaphruek, and the national flower of Brunei , the Simpur, both of which have yellow petals, are used as symbols for the exhibition.

The exhibition is divided into two parts: the first showcases the cooperation deal, while the second will be in the form of a musical variety show.

The joint concert, Alai Pa-Plern, is set on June 6, also at the Government of Public Relations Department auditorium on Soi Aree Samphan in Bangkok.

The two-hour show will be in the form of a green concert on the theme "Protect the World, Conserve the Environment".

The host of the event is Thailand's National Broadcasting Services.

The second part of the exhibition focuses on the theme, showing initiatives and involvement of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and members of the royal family in protecting the environment, government policies, projects and activities carried out by government agencies, the private sector, and the communities' participation to protect the environment.
