Isra' Mi'raj joy at Istana Nurul Iman


HIS MAJESTY Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended the National Isra' Mi'raj celebration for the year 1429 Hijrah held yesterday at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.

His Majesty, during the ceremony delivered his titah on the importance of speeding up local agricultural production in order to lessen dependency on imports. The monarch also consented to present the Ta'mir Masjid awards to the winners.

In a separate setting, an event was held to celebrate Isra' Mi'raj at Istana Nurul Iman.

Gracing the ceremony was Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hjh Saleha. Her Majesty was accompanied by Her Royal Highness Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar, HRH Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah Pg Salleh Ab Rahaman, HRH Princess Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah, HRH Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Muta-Wakkilah Hayatul Bolkiah, HRH Princess Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah and members of the royal family.

This year's theme for the Isra' Mi'raj celebration was Tunas bangsa berakhlak Al-Quran which loosely translates into English as "Bruneian youth with principles based on al-Quran".

The celebration commenced with the recital of Quranic verses by Hjh Aminah Hj Abd Manap.

According to RTB, the Isra' Mi'raj celebrations was made even more intriguing with a special talk by the State Mufti, Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr Ustaz Hj Abdul Aziz Juned.

The talk highlighted the significance of Isra' Mi'raj and the State Mufti noted that Isra' Mi'raj is an event filled with blessing, reminder and guidance.

The State Mufti added that Isra' Mi'raj happened so as to show Allah's (SWT) greatness to bestow mukjizat (miracle; something which man is not normally capable of and which is therefore thought to be done by God) to Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).

Also present were the wives of pengiran-pengiran cheterias, cabinet Ministers, legislative council members, deputy ministers, pengiran-pengiran peranakan, and wives of representatives of neighbouring countries, representatives from the women associations that combined with Brunei Darussalam Women Council and representatives from women uniformed associations.
