Cabinet ministers reshuffled, new BIA chairman appointed

SEVERAL cabinet ministers were reshuffled yesterday by the command of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

As a result of the reshuffle, Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Ahmad Hj Jumat, who was formerly Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, now assumes his position as the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

As such the former Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Hj Mohammad Hj Daud has been appointed as the Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office.

Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Hj Yahya Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar will be the Minister of Industry and Primary Resources.

The transfer of the aforementioned cabinet ministers is effective beginning today, as announced by the Office of His Majesty The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

Meanwhile, the Office of His Majesty also issued an announcement that the Minister of Communications Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Hj Abu Bakar Hj Apong is to succeed Pehin Dato Hj Yahya and take on the mantle of Chairman on the Board of Directors at the Brunei Investment Agency (BIA).
