BRUNEI'S medical practitioners will now have a platform to discuss ways of improving the country's healthcare industry, with the establishment of the Brunei Medical Association.
The formation of an independent association representing medical doctors will open up possibilities for this significant group of professionals to improve the country's healthcare system, said Dato Paduka Dr Hj Abd Latif Hj Ibrahim, president of the association's Interim Executive Committee.
Speaking at the launching of the medical association at the Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong yesterday, he said that the medical association encourages and supports active participation of all its members in their professional interaction and the sharing of medical knowledge with one another.
"This association will provide opportunities for medical practitioners to work closely and in consultation with government and non-government agencies, particularly the Ministry of Health, in pursuit of providing high quality health care to Bruneians," he added.
Minister of Health Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Suyoi Hj Osman launched the Brunei Medical Association, in the hopes of raising the standard of medical practice in the country.
The association was established as a professional non-governmental organisation that represents collective views and interests of medical doctors in Brunei, particularly those that promote the welfare and health of local communities.(AII1)
