MORE than $100,000 was contributed towards His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 63rd birthday celebration sponsorship fund yesterday from some 100 local companies and individuals.
On hand to receive the donations was Brunei-Muara District officer Dato Paduka Hj Md Yussop Bakar who received cheques from the contributors in a ceremony held at the Brunei-Muara District office.
"The involvement of local companies and individuals have been supportive in the Brunei-Muara District. Contribution towards celebrations show the people's love and loyalty for their monarch," said Dato Paduka Hj Md Yussop Bakar.
Amongst those who contributed were NBT Sdn Bhd and Hua Ho with $5,000 each; Brunei Shell Tankers and Brunei Gas Carriers who collectively donated $4,000; and Goh Hock Kee Motor Sdn Bhd with a sum of $3,000.
Individuals Lim Seng Kok and Lim Meng Siong contributed $3,000 each.
Also present at the event was Head of Brunei History Centre Pehin Jawatan Dalam Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Utama Dr Hj Mohd Jamil Al-Sufri Begawan Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Seri Paduka Hj Umar. (KAY1)
