BAG NETWORKS yesterday carried out a tree planting activity at the UBD Chancellor Hall car parking area as their mid-week activity, with this week's theme called "Going Green".
The activity of planting 100 trees at the car park has been going on since June 18, with the objectives to promote a healthier lifestyle and support environmental sustainability for the benefit of future generations.
"We chose this place because the car park area of the Chancellor Hall currently has no trees to provide shade for daily car park users," said Dk Farhanna, a representative from the company who supervised the on-going activity.
"Not only is it good for the environment, but the trees that we're planting today will also hopefully provide shade for the car-park users in many years to come."
She added that the activity was organised in conjunction with World Environment Day and it reflects the Company's commitment to the environment.
The tree planting involved several BAG Networks personnel planting 100 baby casuarina trees, also known as the Rurunang, at areas surrounding the car park.
Dk Farhanna said, "The 100 baby casuarina trees were handed over to us earlier this month by the Forestry Department specially for this activity. We were given instructions by the department in our previous knowledge-sharing session on the steps and procedures of planting the trees."
"As a team-building activity, we also wanted to give the participating staff the opportunity to learn and enjoy gardening as well as to connect with nature," she further added.
The tree-planting activity will continue to be carried out by the BAG Networks staff and is expected to be completed by the end of the Month.
BAG Networks Chief Executive Officer Haslina Hj Mohd Taib and Advisor David Abberton have also been involved in planting the trees. (ADI1) The Brunei Times
