Thursday, July 2, 2009

INDUCTION courses should be given to new government officers earlier so that employees can be more confident and knowledgeable in carrying out their duties more efficiently.

This was said by a participant of the induction course for new government officers, Siti Nur Nuzatul Saifa Fitra Fathrine Rosellan from the Town and Country Planning Department.

"The course teaches us how to prepare memos, letters and faxes, which is crucial during the early stages of being in-service with the government where preparing paperwork is a skill needed while in-service," she said.

She added that she hopes the course will be conducted earlier for other officers to help tackle any challenges faced.

The course given to new officers was aimed at providing knowledge and understanding on the duties and responsibilities of each government department and ministry.

"I never knew that there were many ministries until I was being briefed by the representatives. I am now more aware of what the government activities are," said Lim Kim Bit, a teacher from the Ministry of Education.

She also suggested to have a question and answer session after the briefing by each ministry and department to clear any uncertainties and doubts by new officers.

Hj Mohd Asme Hj Amit from the Public Service Department said the course has given him a better understanding of various government agencies.

The course is organised by various ministries and departments under the support of the Civil Service Institute as part of providing employees with extra knowledge on other ministries and departments. (KAY1)
