BAIDURI Bank has been appointed the official bank for the upcoming Brunei Darussalam International Defence Exhibition and Conference (BRIDEX) following a signing ceremony with the defence exhibition's organiser, Royal Brunei Technical Services (RBTS), yesterday.
Under the agreement, Baiduri Bank will be having a counter at the east wing of the BRIDEX Exhibition Centre from August 5-15 where it will be offering banking services such as currency exchange and cash withdrawal. These services are provided mainly for the convenience of vendors and delegates who will be coming from all over the world.
Signing on behalf of BRIDEX 2009 was its exhibition director, Lt Col (Rtd) Amir Hamzah Hj Hanafi who is also the chief executive officer of Royal Brunei Technical Services while Raymond Bariou, senior deputy general manager of Baiduri Bank, signed on the bank's behalf.
Witnessing the ceremony was Abu Bakar Hj Ladi, services manager for BRIDEX 2009 and Ti Eng Hui, the deputy general manager of Retail Banking and Branch Network under Baiduri Bank.
Held at the conference hall of the newly completed exhibition centre, the bank's senior deputy general manager took the opportunity to express appreciation and honour for being named the official bank for the forthcoming premier defence and security event which will take place from August 11-15.
"With a strong combination of local knowledge and international expertise, we are well placed to provide the level of banking services required to support this world-class event," he said.
Lt Col (Rtd) Amir Hamzah also expressed gratitude for their support and cooperation in the hopes of making the upcoming event a success.
He also mentioned possible plans for the bank to also support the next BRIDEX event slated for 2011, which he expects to be bigger and better as it will be held in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
After the signing, the senior deputy general manager was then taken on a tour of the exhibition centre where various activities were being conducted in preparation for the actual day.
Held for the first time in 2007, BRIDEX is one of the biggest defence and security events in the region. It brings together the world's leading manufacturers and suppliers of defence and security equipment systems as well as high level international government defence and security officials, providing them with a unique experience in business facilitation.
