Revamping espeed.com

Monday, August 2, 2010

Dear Editor,

As a visitor to the espeed.com.bn (used to be brunet.bn), I do appreciate the effort done by the administrator to revamp the website. It has a new refreshing design. But honestly, I do not think the revamping effort is a huge success; the previous version of the website is more usable. These are the reasons:

1. Online application form: where did all the online application forms for the value-added services go? The forms for e-speed, domain name, leased line, web hosting and so on. I had even called the customer service (121), complaint about the absent of the online forms.

The answer I received is that Online forms are still under construction, please come to our counters to get the form and apply. That was few months back and until today, the forms are still not online yet.

2. Under maintenance link: Last few months, I came across a page on Telbru's website, I saw a message under maintenance besides a text. Sometimes, there is a link that does not link to anywhere. Right before I wrote this letter, I checked the same page, the under maintenance message is still there. It has been few months already and yet it has not done. As a standard practice, site owner does not need to tell the visitors that it is under maintenance because a website is always under maintenance.

3. Unclear content structure and presentation: If I am a visitor who knows nothing about Telbru and the services provided, I will lost on the front page because there is no proper direction given.

Just last week, I received a call from my friend overseas. He wanted to do some pricing research on ADSL in Brunei but he could not find it.

What I can say is eSpeed website is designed mainly for locals only but it has lack of focus for foreign visitors.

Overall, I personally think that the website still needs further tweaking. At least, please fix the online forms first and get rid of those under maintenance messages.
