Dear Editor,
I was one of the eager visitors who flocked to the three-day fish carnival Sales of Fisheries Products at the fish landing complex in Muara last Sunday. However, I was disappointed to see that there were not many people at the festival and so were participating vendors.
Some of the vendors raised their concerns that the response that they received from the public was not encouraging and many vendors gave up after the first day till it made some of the vendors gave up. I believe that some members of the public may be not aware of this event being organised due to the lack of advertisement, banners, radio announcement and others.
I came to know about the event after reading about it in your newspaper on Friday and when I went there, I did not see any banners to attract the public.
I believe that if the event was organised properly with more publicity, it would have attracted more people as the crustaceans and fish sold there was very fresh at very reasonable price compared to other days.
Another point I want to suggest for the next time to make it more attractive is that we can invite some restaurants to offer their services to cook the fresh catch right away for the customers.
The stalls could be set up by using a tent in the big area which is facing the beach as this would create a nice view for the visitors and more business for vendors.
