Dear Editor,
AS THE last few nights of Ramadhan are upon us, it's sad to notice that more Bruneians would prefer to spend their time in shopping complexes rather than taking the opportunity to pray on the chance that they may meet Night of Al-Qadr, on which Allah (SWT) bestows many blessings.
Unfortunately, as a Bruneian, I notice that we are prone to preparing at the last minute, and we are crowding the shops in hopes of getting a good bargain for whatever we assume that we need during Hari Raya. We must take note though, that having new things for Hari Raya is not mandatory, and we should consider being prudent with our expenditures as not to burden ourselves and our families financially.
The Brunei Times has been carrying local stories frequently about those who are in financial troubles and need help from the authorities to ease their burden and help with the celebrations of Hari Raya. I suggest that the public should focus their charity towards these people to please Allah (SWT). May Allah (SWT) bless us all.
Humanitarian,
Jalan Muara
