Dear Editor,
I HAVE heard that the Malaysian League is offering Brunei to join again.
I see that Brunei's DPMM FC has already hyped up the people about the Singapore League, would sending Brunei National team for the Malaysian League be a good idea?
For one thing, I really want to see Brunei's progress in the world of football. Brunei football fans had already faced tough times when the country was banned by FIFA (International Federation of Association Football).
Now after the ban is finally lifted, Brunei should make the right decisions to quickly develop the sport. FIFA's rules forbid any football organisation from including an unregistered or deregistered team in any competition.
For the local players, yes it provides more exposure and more players to play with different teams in the region, it means that when it comes to choosing the Brunei national team, there is a bigger outlook in exposing local talent.
Brunei's national team really needs to excel at the very least on region level, which means that they have to be better in SEA games.
The other neighbouring countries have already proved themselves to be stronger and faster during last SEA games. Brunei needs to catch up quick.
I see positive results if Brunei sends one team for the Singapore League and another team for the Malaysia League as this could provide more experience, talent and exposure in terms of playing games outside of the country especially to strengthen ties between the two countries through sports and we might relive the days when Brunei last won the Malaysia Cup in 1999.I just want to see the best in Brunei's football.
Football Enthusiast,
Gadong
