Dear Editor,
I READ with satisfaction that B: Read has continued to organise bookswaps (B:Read's third bookswap is on the horizon, A12, June 18, 2012 issue).
The group, which will put up 450 titles for the swap, has come a long way since it started the activity less than a year ago and is doing the country a great service by compensating for the anaemic selection of commercial book stores in the Sultanate.
As a bookworm, I decry the sparse choices that book stores here have to offer. I end up having to buy my books abroad or even asking friends to get certain titles for me when they go overseas. Perhaps through these bookswaps, bookworms like me won't have to go abroad to land those tomes on their must-read lists.
Besides spreading the joy of reading, these bookswaps also ensure that book owners who love their copies but can no longer keep them would pass their treasure to someone who will care as much for it as they would. More power to B:Read.Tome Raider, BSB
