Dear Editor,
THERE is a water leakage for the last 3-4 months from somewhere under the concrete pavement between the house number 126 and 102 in the Chempaka park, Batu Satu, Jalan Tutong. The leakage has already been reported to the JKR hotline and despite the prompt and rather rigorous efforts of Water Department as well as the Maintenance Contractor, the stubborn leakage could not be located and fixed.
The leakage has continued unabated and since there is no proper discharge point, the water collects on the road and eventually seeps underground through the potholes and existing cracks in the concrete pavement. As a result, the road in the vicinity has started failing and differential settlement is taking place.
The persistent leakage has made the road slippery and the water accumulated in the potholes, perhaps, make it an ideal place for mosquito breeding besides giving a very untidy look to the said area.
The authorities are requested to kindly look into the matter as there is unnecessary and avoidable wastage of water as well as the deterioration of the existing road.
