SEMI-FINALISTS Linktech did not even have to move into second gear to beat Team Wayne 'B' 101-67 in last night's 2009 Pepsi Cup action.
Preserving their unbeaten streak at the Brunei Basketball Association court in Batu Bersurat, Linktech will face the loser of tonight's match at 7pm which pits Babes Boutique against Yuan Tong Enterprise (YTE) in the semi-finals.
Last night's second game saw Chop Eng Seng Keo Pinoy Resources beat White Heaven 74-67 to reach the last four.
Chop Eng Seng Keo Pinoy Resources will face the winner between Babes Boutique and YTE in the other semis game.
Both semis will be played on Saturday.
Though Linktech's assistant coach admitted his team were not playing 100 per cent, he was adamant it was still an important game.
"We still needed to play well because we wanted to perfect our defence - I think we did that today," said Rhoel Corpuz. "I'm not sure who we will face in the semi-final and I cannot predict if we will get to the final because they are all tough teams."
Linktech opened a 10-point lead at the end of the first quarter (28-28) and they were on cruise control after that. Their passing caused problems for Team Wayne 'B' all night and they were able to create numerous fast-break points by launching cross-court passes which caught Team Wayne 'B' off guard.
Silly mistakes like back-court violations and taking more than eight seconds to bring the ball up the court in the first period did not help Team Wayne 'B' either.
Point-guard Mark Porlahe's basket put the score at 44-24 mid-way through the second period.
Tonight's other game will pit Kitchen of Jasmine against Bukit Ladang at 8:30.The Brunei Times
