SOME 1,000 car enthusiasts turned up at Lexus Showroom in Gadong on Friday to get a closer look the much anticipate Lexus IS300C, the convertible model.
This latest member of the hugely popular IS300 family, is a hardtop convertible which in less than 21 seconds, will retract completely into the boot. Even with the roof completely retracted, it still has sufficient room for a golf set.
The opening and closing of this roof gives the driver an exciting "Transformers" (as in the movie) kind of experience while seated in the amply well-spaced interior.
For the enthusiasts, this latest and the most sporty evolution of the IS300 series looks set to be another must-have in the garage.
For all its sporty, aggressive-looking and racy image, the IS300C is nonetheless a very pleasant surprise for a model in this price range of just $87,970 on the road.
A self-confessed IS300 diehard fan, Pg Noorshah Pg Hj Shamsuddin who came all the way from Kuala Belait for the launch by NBT, divulge: "I am sold on the IS300C. It's like getting two cars for the price of one."
"It will be a nice present for my wife's upcoming birthday next month."
Also on display, to support the launch of the IS300C at the showroom was the equally eye-catching IS300 Sport Art model that has the Lexus name and logo boldly emblazoned across its body, giving the already sporty car an even more flashy and racy look.
That not withstanding, the star of the day was still the IS300C.
There are, after all, not too many convertibles on Brunei roads and this latest evolution from the Lexus stable should do well in its market segment, given its stunning good looks and versatility.
