SERI Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPU SB) yesterday launched its first "Teacher's Journal", written by the Minister of Religious Affairs.
The launch, at the International Convention Centre in Berakas, coincided with KUPU SB's 30th convocation for the last intake for the institution's Certificate in Religious Teaching for the 2005-2008 and 2006-2009 sessions.
To be an annual publication by KUPU SB, the 135-page journal is written in Malay, English and Arabic, and aims to focus on several aspects of teaching.
The journal is to include articles or research findings related to teaching, teacher education and the philosophy of teacher education in particular as well as any topics related to teaching and learning, the administration of education and teacher education in general.
The first publication saw contributions from seven renowned religious experts from various countries. Among the entries in the journal are "Mastering knowledge in preparation of becoming a role model according to Al-Quran and Al-Sunnah" by Ariffin Omar, "Teaching professionalism according to Islamic perspective" by Ab Rahim Ismail and "The role of religious education curriculum in schools" by H Yahya Apong.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Dr Ustaz Hj Md Zain Hj Serudin hoped that KUPU SB's contribution by publishing the journal can disseminate knowledge to academics, graduates, students and the general community.
The minister added that the publication of the journal can bring great benefits to the development religious education in the nation.
