BRUNEI will join the rest of the world in raising awareness on HIV/Aids and demonstrate international solidarity in the face of the epidemic during World Aids Day tomorrow. To observe the occasion, Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) in Brunei will be giving out red ribbons at all its seven branches on a first come, first serve basis.
"While Brunei is still relatively protected from the HIV virus in our community, we still need to keep up our collective efforts of educating and spreading awareness on HIV and Aids," said Marilyn Graeme, SCB's lead HIV champion and manager, Corporate Affairs in a press statement.
"Through education and leading by example, we empower our youth, family and friends with the right information that they can use to make safer and healthier lifestyle choices," she added.
Earlier in June this year, the bank launched an interactive website, www.vir.us, aimed at providing information on HIV/Aids. The statement added that the website offers an interactive source of information in an engaging way to learn about HIV/Aids, and cultural sensitivities on sexual health issues.
