SOME 14 library officers from the Language and Literature Bureau's library branches all over the country attended an ICT skills workshop on Microsoft Excel yesterday to expand and develop their aptitudes in info-communication technology.
Chief Librarian of the Language and Literature Bureau, Hj Sahari Hj Nassar, as guest of honour, said that in recognising the importance of ICT in the workplace, the bureau's libraries have always prioritised ICT workshops and other management courses so that their staff will be able to continously expand and develop their knowledge in these areas.
The workshop is a three-day course facilitated by a representative from the ICT Leadership Management (ILM) Academy, Mahdiana Hj Mahmud, who is the manager in technical learning and development at the academy.
Yesterday's workshop focused on getting to know the Microsoft Excel application whereby participants were taught how to function the programme as well as the application of simple formulas into a task sheet. Mahdiana said that by the end of the workshop, the participants will hopefully be able to understand the application and apply it to each of their fields.
Today's workshop will focus on the more advanced built-in functions of the program. Tomorrow, the last day of the workshop, will focus on applying their knowledge into their fields, such as setting up a task sheet for library membership and library fines.
