THE private sector is responsible for boosting the development of the ICT industry, while the Brunei government will continue to create a conducive environment for this to happen, the Minister of Communications said yesterday.
In his remarks during the "Interactive Workshop on Optimising ICT: Brunei-India Cooperation", Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Hj Abu Bakar Hj Apong (pictured left) said, "The government will continue to strive towards making an environment that is most conducive for the growth and development of our industry players, but it is the private sector that has to take up the challenge and fuel the growth of the industry."
He said that the workshop yesterday, which was held at the AiTi (Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam) building in Anggerek Desa, was a platform where Brunei's ICT players could learn from their "mature" Indian counterparts and leverage on their experience and extensive networks.
