RBAF, disaster council celebrate Crown Prince's 36th birthday

HIS Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, General of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) yesterday attended a high tea reception hosted by RBAF to mark His Royal Highness' 36th birthday.

Present to accompany the Crown Prince for the celebration at the Officer's Mess of the Bolkiah Garrison in Berakas were Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik.

Upon arrival, RBAF Commander Major General Hj Aminuddin Ihsan Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Hj Abidin welcomed Their Royal Highnesses.

Also on hand to greet the royal entourage were Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretaries Dato Paduka Hj Mustappa Hj Sirat and Dato Paduka Hj Abd Majid Mangarshah.

After a group photo session with senior officers from the Ministry of Defence and RBAF and their spouses, His Royal Highness the RBAF General was introduced to and briefly conversed with 16 newly-commissioned RBAF officers before signing the Royal Parchment.

His Royal Highness then viewed an exhibition displaying collections of photographs of His Royal Highness's past visits to the Ministry of Defence and RBAF. An album, Sejambak Ristaan III, of these photographs was also given to the Crown Prince.

Moving on to the dining area of the officer's mess, His Royal Highness cut his golden-hued birthday cake, which was frosted in patriotic colours and laden with military insignia.

The RBAF General was also presented with a pesambah, or royal gift, in the form of a rehal (Quran stand), by the RBAF commander on behalf of all the RBAF officers. The rehal signifies His Royal Highness' strong support towards the Holy Quran in praising and upholding the words of wisdom bestowed upon the human race by Allah (SWT), according to a RBAF statement.

It was also befitting of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's vision to make the Sultanate a zikir nation.

To bless the event, a doa kesyukuran (thanksgiving prayer) was read out by Lieutenant Colonel (U) Hj 'Abdur Rahim Hj Abd Karim, the head of RBAF's Religious Department (Jama'at).

Prior to departing from the ceremony, Their Royal Highnesses also received greetings from the officers and spouses of the Ministry of Defence and RBAF. Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) held a thanksgiving prayer yesterday to mark His Royal Highness Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office 36th birthday anniversary.

The ceremony was held at the Fire and Rescue Department headquarters' surau at the Old Airport, Berakas. The guest of honour was Minister of Home Affairs (MoHA) Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Adanan Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Hj Mohd Yusof.

The event began with Maghrib prayers followed by a Sunat Hajat prayers, the recitation Surah Yaasin then the thanksgiving prayer. It concluded with Isyak prayers.

Among those present were MoHA's permanent secretaries, senior officers, Fire and Rescue Department and National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) officers and staff. with a report from Syazwan Sadikin
