THE acting deputy director of Museums yesterday highlighted the importance of spiritual strength in keeping the nation safe.
Dr Karim Pg Hj Osman also talked about this year's theme of Prophet Muhammad's birthday, "Allah Save Brunei Darussalam" and the National Day theme, "My Country, Brunei Darussalam", during the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Maulud celebration.
"These themes, even though short, have a deeper meaning. I believe the safety of our nation does not only rely on physical strength, but also spiritual strength," he said.
"In this regard, belief in Islam...is important in guaranteeing the safety of the country. Hopefully with our obedience, Allah will continue to give us His mercy and keep us and the country safe from calamities and disasters."
Dr Karim said that the birth of the Prophet (pbuh) is a blessing and gift from Allah to mankind and has taught Muslims the true teachings of Allah.
"With the message Prophet Muhammad brought, our lives have changed, from an era of ignorance," he said.
The celebrations at the MCYS, organised by the Department of Museums, was also host to a talk on Maulud.
Present was permanent secretararies at MCYS, Dato Paduka Hj Jemat Hj Ampal and Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Hamid Hj Mohd Jafaar.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education held its own celebrations, organised by the Department of Schools.
Minister of Education Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdul Rahman Dato Seti Hj Mohamed Taib was present as the guest of honour.
A talk was also organised, along with a dzikir marhaban for six teachers, who had converted to Islam.
