142 homes to be built under STKRJ
BELAIT: About $19 million allocated under the National Development Plan 2007-2012 will be used to build 142 house units in the Belait District under the National Housing Scheme and Landless Indigenous Citizens Housing Scheme. A contract signing was held at the Public Works Department (PWD) last Wednesday to signify the start of the construction. The agreement was signed by Acting Director General in PWD Hj Suhaimi Hj Gafar and representatives from Abdul Ghani Architect Agency and the Chuon Tzu Construction Sdn Bhd. The construction will officially start on March 20, 2010 and will be completed by May 19, 2012.
BLNG commemorates 40th anniversary
BELAIT: The Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd (BLNG) held a thanksgiving ceremony recently to commemorate its 40th anniversary.
Organised by the Muslim Employees Body (Badan Pekerja-Pekerja Islam, BPPI) at Zainab Mosque in Lumut, the event was attended by the State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Hj Abdul Aziz Juned. Also present was the Managing Director/CEO of BLNG Hj Salleh Bostaman Hj Zainal Abidin as well as members of BLNG management and employees. Apart from performing mass Maghrib and Isya' prayers, the congregants also held doa kesyukuran as well as a Khatam Al- Qur'an ceremony for staff and families of Brunei LNG, Refinery and Contractors. The highlight of the event was a talk delivered by the State Mufti. The event began with a recital of the Surah Al-Fatihah followed by the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony, a Dzikir Marhaban performance, recital of the Surah Yassin and tahlil prayers. Apart from seeking blessing from Allah the Almighty for continuous success for the company, the ceremony was also held as a means of enhancing relations between BLNG, the community and the stakeholders.
Kids' dental services during school break
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Dental services for children at the National Dental Centre at Old Airport, Berakas will be open during the school term holidays, from March 19-28. A press release by the Ministry of Health said the clinic would be open from 7.45am until 12.15pm and 1.30-4.30pm. It will be closed on Fridays and Sundays. Dental Services for Children at health centres and community clinics will be open during normal working hours. Patients who require further treatment are advised to set an appointment at the dental clinics located nearest to their residences.
Cleaning campaign at Tungku beach
BRUNEI-MUARA: The Beach Bunch is organising a cleaning campaign on March 21, 2010 at Tungku Beach starting from 8am to 11am. This campaign, the fifth time organised by the Beach Bunch, is held in conjunction of the United Nations World Forestry Day on March 21 and the Earth Hour day on March 27. Members of the public who are interested to participate in the campaign are advised to come equipped with garbage bags, gloves or tongs for safety and hygienic precautions.
