Repent to evade fires of Hell: Sermon

Saturday, March 20, 2010

MUSLIMS were called to seek forgiveness from Allah (SWT) for the sins committed while there was still time to save themselves from the fires of Hell.

Yesterday's sermon elaborated in detail what awaits those who had committed sins and rebel against Allah the Almighty.

"In Hell there is a fire that is millions of times hotter that on earth. If the fires of Hell were to fall on earth, this world would be destroyed," the sermon said.

Hell has seven tiers and gates, and each level has mountains and rivers, all made of this fire.

"There is valley that is horrific, terrifying and so hot, filled with venomous animals. This is the place for those who deny religion," the sermon said.

This, the sermon added, included those who neglected orphans, who do not feed the poor, those who forget the prayers because of their desire for pleasure and those who give false charity.

"On judgement day, Satan and disbelievers will be bound hand and foot and dragged into hell. They will not be considered and will not cross the siratul mustaqim (the path that leads to paradise)".

It said those who had faith in Allah (SWT) would be judged right down to the smallest of matters. They would be held responsible for every action and a decision would be made on who would enter Heaven or Hell, said the sermon.

Then, it added, they would cross the siratul mustaqim, a bridge thinner than a strand of hair and sharper than a sword. There are some who will succeed in crossing it and some who will fall into the pits of Hell.

"In Hell they will be punished. Every time their skin is burned by the fire, it will be replaced with new skin and they will be miserable forever... they will try to run from the fires, but this will not happen because the gates of hell are shut tightly and protected by angels."

To save oneself from Allah's wrath in hell, Muslims were told to serve Allah and avoid what is prohibited, hopefully they would be amongst those who received the reward of going to HeavenThe Brunei Times
