THE Authority for Info-communications and Technology (AiTi) has initiated an ICT competency programme in its bid to enhance ICT literacy in the country. Towards this goal, the agency has assigned a local ICT training company - Infomars Training and Technology Solutions Sdn Bhd - to conduct the IC3 training programme for 180 participants following the signing of an agreement recently.
IC3 which stands for Internet Competency Core Certification, is a programme designed to validate an individual's basic computer skills and Internet knowledge with training through modules such as computing fundamentals, key applications and living online.
The certification gained through the programme enjoys worldwide recognition as the global standard for digital literacy and will enable participants to become more marketable.
According to AiTi, to be eligible for this training course, participants must be Brunei citizens or permanent residents working in non-government agencies such as registered local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) or any member of the public above 17 years of age who is seeking for employment.
As an added bonus for the participants, AiTi will be subsidising 50 per cent of the IC3 training fees and trainees will have the option of either going for the 11 days full-time or 22 days part-time courses.
Registration to join the programme is now open where forms can be obtained from the Infomars Training & Technology Solutions or downloadable from www.infomars.com.bn or www.aiti.gov.bn.
Besides IC3, AiTi is also considering to subsidise other training modules under its ICT Competency Programme such as ICT Literacy, ICT Competency, E-Business Knowledge, Employment Transformation and ICT Expert.
The programme is aimed to provide the locals with specific ICT training courses to equip themselves with relevant IT basics, business/administration, multimedia applications and other IT skills in order to create a pool skilled manpower in Brunei Darussalam. (SRH1)
