Improving landscape at airport roundabout

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The public has been advised to take extra precautions when approaching and using the Brunei International Airport Roundabout where works to improve the landscape is under way. The Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (Jastre) said that the works is expected to be completed in January 2011.

5 receive donations

TUTONG: The Department of Community Development (Japem) handed out contributions to five more homes yesterday. The department in its press release yesterday said that the recipients were those under Japem's monthly welfare assistance programme. Abdullah Kudi, Hjh Sahaia Piut, Putih Jambul, Rauyah Tuah and Siti Sabtu received basic food rations to help them prepare for the upcoming Raya celebrations from Acting Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Datin Hjh Adina Othman.

Orphans Fund gets more contributions

BRUNEI-MUARA: The Brunei-Muara District Office yesterday received donations from the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Brunei Islam Religious Council (Muib) for the office's orphan fund and charity fund. The $7,000 donation from the Indian Chamber of Commerce for the orphans fund was handed over to Brunei-Muara District Officer Hj Jamain Momin by Nazeer Ahmad Zakaria, president of the chamber. Meanwhile, Muib contributed $37,000 from the zakat (tithe) fund to be used in the construction and renovation of seven houses for daif (poor) families registered by the office. Muib has contributed $127,000 for 17 houses.
