10 firms join S'pore ICT exhibition

TEN local information and communications technology (ICT) companies departed yesterday to participate in the upcoming CommunicAsia 2011 exhibition in Singapore.

The companies will be exhibiting a range of "Made-in- Brunei" ICT products under the Brunei Darussalam Pavilion which is coordinated and subsidised by Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry (AITI) as part of its ICT industry development initiative.

Held from June 21-24 at Marina Bay Sands Exhibition Hall, CommunicAsia will see the latest technology innovations and industry updates, featuring thought-provoking sessions by prominent industry players in the summit.

It is hoped the companies' participation this year would allow the representatives to gain knowledge on the latest technologies and exchange of ideas through business networking with international companies, a statement from AITI said.

With the Brunei Darussalam Pavilion, AITI envisions that the exhibition will create international exposure to promote Brunei's ICT capabilities and provide ample opportunities to build new strategic ties with potential business partners, the press statement added.

Minister of Communications Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdullah Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar, who was attending the Infocomm Media Business Exchange (imbX) Ministerial Forum in Singapore, also lent support to the delegation, headed by AITI Chief Executive Hj Yahkup Hj Menudin.

Among the participating companies are BruGPS Technologies, Crescent Sdn Bhd, Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru), Network Integrity Assurance Technologies (Niat), ICT Leadership Management (ILM) Academy, Mars Enterprise, Padian.com, Expansys Technologies and Infindo.

CommunicAsia is said to be the region's leading information and communications technology conference and exhibition and AITI has been promoting ICT products and services actively in CommunicAsia under the Brunei Pavilion since 2008.

The CommunicAsia website said over 25,800 industry professionals from around the world have visited the exhibition to source for the latest technologies. — Low Leng May
