'Remember prophet's teachings, seek blessings'

Saturday, February 4, 2012

IMAMS nationwide in their Friday sermons yesterday called for the Muslim ummah to remember Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) for his teachings and noble behaviours that can be made as guidelines to seek blessings from Allah (SWT).

Muslims must be grateful to Allah SWT for sending Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the last messenger to pass on the Almighty's revelation and lead the human race to the right path as well as bring good news to Muslims, the sermon said.

It added that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also fought for noble values in the life of humanity and that the messenger never surrendered to the hardship and challenges of propagating Islam that the Muslim ummah enjoys today.

It is only befitting that in this country, we hold events in conjunction with Maulidur Rasul such as organising zikir ceremonies at suraus, prayer halls, religious talks and parades among them, with the aim to remember the birth of Prophet Muhammad and as a sign of gratitude and love from all Muslims for his great leadership, the Imams said.

Imams also spoke of how the birth and the prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH) on earth has brought blessings and light, freed the human race from barbarism and offered justice to humanity.

"His prophethood truly brought changes in all aspect of humanity," they said.

They added that the prophet had managed to turn an era of cruelty and violence into a peaceful and loving world.

Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) sacrifices in advocating Islam and his noble behaviours has enlightened scholars to write about the tales and life of the Prophet.

They admitted that the personality of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is something that must be emulated and be made as a guideline and role model in our lives, the sermon said.

Imams also reminded Muslims to not only remember the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by holding religious events and parades, but also to heed his advice and follow his teachings.

Multiplying the frequency of reciting the salawat (praises for the Prophet) is one of the many ways to remember our love for the Prophet, the imams added yesterday.

The sermon said that even Allah (SWT) and his angels recite the salawat for the prophet, therefore, Muslims who seek rewards (pahala) should do so as well.

As his ummah, Muslims should not ignore the teachings of our prophet because Allah (SWT) will condemn those who do so to hell, Imams reminded.

"Lastly, we must be grateful to Allah (SWT) for making us as the prophet's ummah as he will offer us syafaat (intercession for the believers) and blessing in this world and the Hereafter," said Imams yesterday.

Therefore as his ummah, we must obey his teachings by holding onto two of his invaluable heritage namely Al-Quran and Hadith. The Brunei Times
