WAWASAN Raja + Wawasan Rakyat = Wawasan Negara (Ruler's vision + People's vision = National Vision) will be the theme of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 66th birthday celebrations in all the four districts this year.

During the first National Committee meeting for His Majesty's 66th birthday celebrations yesterday, Home Affairs Minister and the chairman Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Othman, said that the main purpose of using the theme in all the four districts is to focus more on meeting the aspiration of the monarch and people who share the same vision for the development of the country.

The minister also informed that His Majesty has consented to the appointment of His Royal Highness Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, as the Patrons of the National Committee of His Majesty's 66th Birthday Celebration while the Chief of Adat Istiadat Yang Amat Mulia Pg Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pg Anak Abd Aziz has been named as the adviser.

He also pointed out that since His Majesty's 66th birthday is coinciding with the holy month of Ramadhan, the celebrations must preserve the sanctity of the holy month.

"In view of this, the National Committee and other festival committees at district level have been asked to ensure that the celebrations must respect the holy month of Ramadhan," he said.

Pehin Dato Ustaz Hj Badaruddin advised committee members to be prudent when it comes to expenses and should adhere to the financial regulations. He also said the payments to service providers should be settled in an appropriate timeframe.

Among the other things discussed in the meeting included dates, presentations, venues, formats of His Majesty's get-together ceremonies with the people of all four districts, the Fardu Maghrib prayers, reciting the Surah Yassin, tahlil, doa kesyukuran, flag waving ceremony and decorations.

This year, Khatam Al-Quran will be recited 66 times by members of the Mukims and Village Consultative Councils (MPM and MPK).

The meeting, held at the Dewan Persantapan Lapau, was also attended by Chief of Adat Istiadat; the Grand Chamberlain Yang Amat Mulia Pg Penggawa Laila Bentara Istiadat Diraja Dalam Istana Pg Hj Alauddin Pg Paduka Tuan Pengiran Hj Abu Bakar; Senior Assistant to Chief of Adat Istiadat Yang Amat Mulia Pg Seri Wijaya Pg Hj Ahmad Pg Mohd Yusof, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Hj Halbi Hj Md Yusof; Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Commissioner of Police as well as other members of the committee.
