THE Ministry of Development and relevant parties involved in projects under the 10th National Development Plan (NDP/RKN10) are determined to have the projects completed on schedule before moving onto future undertakings, the media were told yesterday.
Following a working visit by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billlah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, to three project sites yesterday; Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Suyoi Hj Osman (the Development Minister is currently on leave but was on hand during the visit) told journalists the whole idea of HRH's visits was to make sure all projects are duly completed.
"HRH is keen for all the RKN projects to be completed on time. Some projects are delayed and some are on time, and this (those that are on time) is what he wants to see because if we were to move on to the next projects, then we must make sure the current projects are all completed," he said.
YB Pehin Dato Hj Suyoi said HRH's working visit has been very good as it shows his "deep interest" in the RKN or National Development Plan (NDP) projects.
"We would also like to complete all the projects on schedule. Of course, there are technical problems we have to deal with, but otherwise all these projects so far are progressing satisfactorily," the minister said.
The three project sites visited were the construction of the new Women and Children Building Block Project (Phase One) in Kg Kiulap, Improvement of Jln Residency Road Maintenance Project (Phase One) and project site for the Upgrading of the Sekolah Tinggi Perempuan Raja Isteri (STPRI).
Upon arrival at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital, HRH was led to listen to an overall briefing on the progress of the three projects by ministry of development Permanent Secretary (Technical and Professional) Hj Suhaimi Hj Gafar.
Before embarking on his visits to the three sites, HRH consented to tour the orthopaedic ward and get up and close with patients.
The Crown Prince displayed his genuine care for the patients, as he visited the bed-sides of those who were awake.
His Royal Highness shook hands with some of the patients, and even spoke to a few of them by asking them how they got into their situation. He was also heard to have asked them to "rehat" (rest) for a speedy recovery.
Yesterday's working visit was the continuation of his visits to RKN10 projects to find out their current progress.
On May 19, HRH also visited three projects under the RKN10: Kampung Mengkubau National Housing Project Site, Kampung Meragang Housing Project and the Flyover Project at the Muara-Tutong Highway/Berakas Linkroad Interchange.
In April, at the RKN10 launching at the International Convention Centre (ICC), HRH pledged to personally visit and monitor RKN10 project sites to ensure their implementation on time.
