47 immigration, registration officers receive insignia

FORTY-SEVEN officers at the Immigration and National Registration Department received new rank insignias in a small ceremony held at the department's headquarters in Jln Menteri Besar yesterday.

Among those who received their new symbols of rank was Azmi Hj Hafneh, who was promoted to Deputy Director of Immigration on June 28, 2011. He is currently the Acting Director of Immigration.

Meanwhile, Raheme Hj Ramle, Refa'ah Ali Osman and Pg Hj Mohammaddin Pg Hj Aliakbar were promoted to Assistant Directors of Immigration on December 22, 2011.

Furthermore, two senior chief immigration officers and four chief immigration officers who were promoted recently were also presented with their insignias.

Ten immigration officers were also promoted from two stripes to three, while 27 others received their first stripe.

Presenting the insignias was the Acting Permanent Secretary of Home Affairs, Roslan Hj Taja'ah.

In his address, Assistant Director of Immigration, Hj Abd Aziz Hj Sudin, the event's committee chairman, congratulated those who have been promoted, stating that it reflects their commitment to their duties, and hopes that in honour of their new positions, it will motivate them to do more and improve their performances.

He added that their promotions also reflect upon their work ethics, particularly integrity, trust, wisdom and discipline, to be able to create a better culture of civil service.

He further hoped that the new officers would help the department on problems and weaknesses in various fields, such as financial management, administration, corruption and abuse of power. The Brunei Times
