WITH the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, 28 officers at the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) were promoted to various ranks in a ceremony held at the RBPF Shooting Range in Kg Sg Akar yesterday.

The officers have been officially promoted as of May 10, but only confirmed their new ranking yesterday with the Rank Insignia and Cap presentation by Acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Dato Seri Pahlawan Bahrin Mohd Noor.

The ceremony began with a recital of the Surah al-Fatihah led by Sergeant Major Pg Hj Ludin Pg Hj Metahir, imam of the RBPF Headquarters' Surau.

At the event, two officers were promoted to Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police; three officers were promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police; and six officers were promoted to Senior Superintendent of Police. Meanwhile, six officers were promoted to Acting Superintendent of Police, while 11 others were promoted to Acting Deputy Superintendent of Police.

On the sidelines of the event, Chief Senior Officer of the Training Unit, Acting Deputy Superintendent of Police Hj Azree Hj Abd Manaf, said the promotion was based on the criteria of their active participation in RBPF activities, such as religious, welfare and sports events, their work discipline and merited performance for excellent service.

"RBPF hopes that all officers that have been promoted will be fully committed (to their service) and further develop the team for the future," said Hj Azree.

Also present during the ceremony were directors, deputy directors, senior officers of police, and family members of the promoted officers. The Brunei Times
