ONLINE applications for the Second Round of Higher Education Centralised Admission System (HECAS) for the academic session 2012/2013 to study at local higher education institutions will begin on August 13 after 8am.
These higher education institutions include Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), Institut Teknologi Brunei (ITB) and Brunei Polytechnic. The commencement of the second round of HECAS online application also covers government overseas scholarships under the Ministry of Education (MoE).
This time around, local higher education institutions are offering diploma in Health Science and first degree programmes, while MoE's Scholarship section will be offering higher diploma and first degree programmes. According to a press statement, the closing date for HECAS online application submissions will be three working days after the announcement of GCE 'A' Level June 2012 results by the Department of Examination. This date will be announced later on the HECAS website. The HECAS online application is open to all valid holders of Negara Brunei Darussalam identity cards (yellow, red and green). However, only Brunei citizens (yellow IC holders) who have at least a credit in Bahasa Melayu in Brunei Cambridge GCE 'O' Level can apply for scholarship (local or overseas). HECAS does not process applications of government servants and foreign applicants. The applicants should contact the admission office of the respective higher education institutions.
Interested applicants for postgraduate, masters or PhD programmes offered by local higher education institutions can go directly to the admission office of the respective higher education institutions to inquire about the application procedures.
As for overseas scholarship for masters or PhD programmes, applicants can obtain the application forms from the Scholarship section, fifth floor, Block C of the Ministry of Education.
