THE Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) presented donations to 127 Muslim orphans from 60 families of former RBAF personnel yesterday, on the 21st day of the fasting month of Ramadhan.
The annual ceremony called "Sentuhan Kasih Ramadhan" which took place at the prayer hall of Berakas Garrison, saw each orphan receive aid in the form of cash and beverages contributed by the RBAF Welfare Fund, RBAF members or individual and the RBAF Wives Welfare Committee (BAKTI).
In attendance to present the donations were the Commander of RBAF Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Aminuddin Ihsan Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Hj Abidin and his wife, Datin Nurhayana Janis Abdullah.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Yasin, Tahlil and Doa Arwah led by Training Officer Religious Department of RBAF (JAMAAT) Lieutenant Narul Ismadi Hj Ismail and followed by an opening remarks by the Chairman of the ceremony Major Tarip Hj Karia.
The event is a yearly event organised by the RBAF during Ramadhan which aims to ease the burden of the orphans in their preparations for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebration.
"It reflects how the caring attitude and charitable culture should be continually raised towards the orphans and ideally improves the social responsibility among the RBAF community," said the statement provided at the event.
The ceremony, the statement added, is also to salute the loyal duty of their departed parents while serving within the RBAF.
Present at the ceremony were service commanders and commandants, directors, with wives, RBAF officers and families of the orphans.
