Sungkai and donations for Pusat Bahagia students, staff

SPECIAL needs students and teachers of Pusat Bahagia Brunei-Muara attended a breaking of fast event organised by the Community Development Department (JAPEM) in collaboration with organisations from the private sector, yesterday.

Present as guest of honour was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Hj Hazair Hj Abdullah.

Upon arrival at Pusat Bahagia Brunei-Muara in Kampung Pulaie, YB Pehin Dato Hj Hazair was welcomed by JAPEM's Director Hjh Misnah Hj Bolhasan and Managing Director of Borneo United Enterprise Sdn Bhd Stanley Lim Hock Ghim.

The minister greeted each of the special needs students at the Darul Ifrah hall.

The event began with a mass reading of tahliland Surah Al-Fatihah led by Head of religious teacher at the centre, Ustaz Mayadi Hj Jais.

To enliven the atmosphere, a group of male students performed a tausyeh.

Prior to the breaking the fast, students and teachers received gifts in the form of cash, which was presented by YB Pehin Dato Hj Hazair and accompanied by representatives of the private companies.

Based on the statement provided during the event, the names of the donors are Stanley Lim Hock Ghim of Borneo Limited Enterprise Sdn Bhd, Mohd Zaidi Abdullah of Deejay Home Video, Hj Ayob Hj Mohd Shariff of Rich Code Sdn Bhd, Simon Kuan Yew Hock of YGK Jewellery Sdn Bhd, Steven Huong Hau Yiew of Hasmit Electrical & Lighting Sdn Bhd, William Ngui Poh Fook of Syarikat Pembangunan Makmur Jaya and Tiong Chew Wen of Success Aluminium Sdn Bhd.

The total number for both teachers and students at Pusat Bahagia is 170.

The event reflects the community's support and care for the welfare and well-being of people with special needs. "As part of the private sector I would also like to contribute to the community, especially during this holy month of Ramadhan," said Simon Kuan Yew Hock, managing director of YGK Jewellery Sdn Bhd.

Also in attendance during the event were Deputy Minister of Culture Youth and Sports Datin Paduka Hjh Adina Othman, Permanent Secretary at the ministry Hj Mohd Rozan Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yunos and senior officers at ministry and JAPEM.
