TWO bodies, believed to be a male and a female, were discovered yesterday evening in a vehicle at the lower basement car park of Hua Ho Mall, Manggis.

According to a witness, one of the deceased appeared to be a local male in his mid-thirties. The witness, who wished to remain anonymous, told The Brunei Times that he initially encountered the bodies at 11am in the lower basement car park of the department store.

"I saw him in the driver's seat. He stayed motionless, so I assumed he was sleeping," said the witness.

The witness explained that he had dropped off his spouse at the department store moments earlier. When the witness returned to Hua Ho Mall, Manggis to pick up his spouse at 4pm, he noticed that the body was still seated inside the parked vehicle.

"I didn't alert the authorities or take a closer look, because I didn't see anything out of the ordinary from afar. It wasn't till later that I found out from my wife that two people were found dead in the lower basement car park. I was shocked," he said.

When The Brunei Times arrived at the scene at 9pm, police had cordoned off the entrance to the basement car park of the store.

Meanwhile, unverified information allegedly containing details on the case were also shared among the public through text messages and social media.

According to the circulated information, the Investigating Officer of Berakas Police Station received a report at 7.20pm from a security guard at Hua Ho Mall, Manggis, who allegedly found a male and female unconscious at the basement car park.

"Upon arriving at the scene, the Investigating Officer was informed by paramedics from RIPAS that the couple were dead," the message said. The circulated information further disclosed that the bodies were dressed in traditional Malay attire and were found in a green Nissan Pulsar. It was also stated that the case has been handed over to the Crime Scene Unit (CSU). The Brunei Times
